【Review | Louis J. Ignarro's Public Lecture on May 9th Concludes Successfully】

The final public lecture of the "2025 Taiwan Nobel Prize Week," a joint lecture by universities in Taipei, took place on the morning of May 9th at Taipei University of Technology. Professor Louis J. Ignarro, the 1998 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, was the keynote speaker, attracting enthusiastic participation from numerous faculty and students in the fields of medicine and life sciences.

Professor Ignarro shared his 15-year research journey, focusing on his groundbreaking research—the discovery of the crucial role of nitric oxide in physiological signal transduction—and his unwavering perseverance in the face of doubt and challenges. He emphasized, "Research should not only be for the results, but also for the understanding and contribution to the essence of life."

This lecture was organized by the Nobel Prize International Cultural and Educational Exchange Association and co-organized by Mackay Memorial Hospital. Special thanks were given to Academician Liao Chun-Chih, President of Academia Sinica, for attending and delivering a speech, affirming Professor Ignarro's profound contributions to the biomedical science community, and encouraging the young students present to be courageous in exploration and dedicate themselves to scientific research.
